Black & white e-comic.
From Mike Friedrich’s groundbreak “ground level” comic Quack!: Alan Kupperberg’s On the Skids. It stars “two cool cats (literally) from Queens, (NY),” never to my knowledge named, but loosely based on the friendship between Alan and fellow artist, Howard Chaykin. The stories are hip and snarky, and they stand as an artifact of the 1970s hipster scene, wildly socially and politically inappropriate by today’s standards.
The stories were originally published in Quack! #1 (July 1976), #2 (January 1977), and #4 (June 1977). The final chapter for #4, originally done as another 10-page story, was edited down and published as a 7-page installment, wrapping up the series with a hand-written “This is the end!” scrawled under the final panel, even though Quack! itself ran for two more issues. Those original final 6 pages are making their print debut here, exactly as they were originally written. Stories are scanned from the original art where available or the publications in which they originally appeared and are being reprinted here for the first time.
