The Phantom Stranger: The Plot Thickens
In support of the four-issue PHANTOM STRANGER miniseries (October 1987 - January 1988), DC Comics publicity department issued an interesting little promotional item: an audio cassette recording of the story plotting session between the writer (me) and the editor (Mike Carlin).
Except...
The plotting session was faked. I had originated the idea of writing the miniseries with editor Denny O'Neil and had already not only worked out the story, but had begun writing the scripts when Carlin took over editing the title. But real or not, the talk does accurately represent the kind of creative conversations that went into developing new comics and stories.
